Domestic Abuse - Don’t Walk by

We're in - are you?

The Make a Stand Supporters' Pledge has been created by the Chartered Institute of Housing in partnership with Women's Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance. It is aimed at organisations like ours, working in the housing sector.

We are proud to have been named as the first organisation to sign up to the Make a Stand Supporter's pledge. As a contractor we work almost exclusively with social housing partners and in the homes of thousands of families across the UK, each and every day.

Make a Stand empowered us to think about what we can do as a company to help prevent domestic abuse, as a result we have developed a training toolkit to raise Operatives’ awareness of domestic abuse as well as educate them on the signs of potential abuse.

The training toolkit, available to download below, has been developed to train our colleagues at MD Group, as well as other contractors across our sector, to raise awareness and help to prevent domestic abuse.

Don't walk by.

Jane Nelson, Managing Director, is our domestic abuse champion

"It’s a no brainer for us to sign up to the supporters’ pledge. Maintenance firms like MD Group are in a great position to make a difference as we visit many homes everyday. We should be alert to the signs of domestic abuse - not because we’re nosy but because we’re good citizens.  Reporting our concerns might just save someone from a lot of misery – or worse."
