From apprenticeship programmes to management qualifications, we provide accessible and inspiring training to ensure you’re able to excel in your role.

Structured training

It all starts with a comprehensive induction programme. The course includes full health and safety training, environmental awareness, customer care guidance, equality and diversity and interpersonal skills.

Training needs analysis establishes an annual training plan that includes statutory exercises for qualification renewals, refresher courses triggered by changes to relevant regulations and opportunities to learn new skills. 

Managers are responsible for ensuring everyone on their team has the appropriate capabilities. Annual assessments provide an opportunity to measure progress and discuss training needs in a structured, 360-degree framework.

We work with local training organisations across our office network to provide tailored activities to match role requirements, including technical and management skills. We typically include our customers and supply chain partners in many of these sessions to compound our shared capabilities.

In field coaching

In addition to formal training, coaching and mentoring are also a critical component in our development programme. Junior staff have the opportunity to work alongside experienced tradespeople, learning first hand. On an on going basis, regular, on site, toolbox talks, address practical applications specific to individual projects.

Qualifications and Certification

We’re proud to have supported MD Group employees achieving qualifications including:

  • NVQs in office-based courses such as Business Administration
  • NVQs in trade skills including plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrics and general maintenance
  • BSc in Project Management
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying
  • IOSH qualifications for Managers
  • Construction Skills Certification Card
